Student Wellbeing Support
Wellbeing Department Overview
The Wellbeing Department at Midlands College of Commerce supports students throughout their college journey by promoting emotional wellbeing, resilience, and a healthy study-life balance. The team provides practical guidance, personalised support plans, and access to wellbeing initiatives that help remove barriers to learning – ensuring every student feels understood and empowered.
Key Areas of Support
-
One-to-One Drop-In Sessions (On Campus and Online)
Students can talk confidentially with a Wellbeing Advisor about stress, personal concerns, emotional health, or academic pressures.
-
Wellbeing Assessments
Conduct confidential conversations to understand individual student needs after they complete a wellbeing request form, and develop recommendations or next steps to support the student effectively.
-
Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) Support
The team assists students with their DSA applications so they can receive additional learning support where eligible.
-
Wellbeing Workshops
The department runs online workshops and skill-building sessions to promote positive mental health and inclusion.
-
Wellbeing Ambassadors & Peer Support
Students can get involved in leadership, peer support, and creative activities that promote connection and self-care. The ambassadors are trained to help out their fellow students.
-
Wellbeing Awareness Initiative
Conduct classroom visits to introduce the Wellbeing Department and raise awareness of available support services.
-
Wellbeing Events
We host wellbeing events to help students build confidence, manage stress, and feel supported. They’re a great way to meet new people, try something uplifting, and take a break.
-
Personalised Wellbeing Plans

Learning Support Plans (LSPs) – Long-term adjustments for ongoing needs for students with a disability or potential disability.
-
Temporary Learning Adjustments (TLAs) – Short-term support during temporary circumstances.
